Breast Reduction

This is a young woman who came in asking for a breast reduction at my New York practice because of neck, back, and shoulder pain. Furthermore, she is a professional actress and dancer who thought her breasts made her look heavy and less athletic. She wondered if her large breasts might also be preventing her from getting various jobs because she didn't "look the part."

I performed a Wise pattern breast reduction for her and removed about 600 grams of tissue per side (that's a little over a pound per breast). The Wise pattern is also known as the anchor scar method. As you can see, the lower incisions are really not visible because the breasts cover them nicely. This is a classic technique that all plastic surgeons learn in their training.

Patient Age:

Starting Bra Size:
34 H cup

Motivation for Breast Reduction Surgery:
Back pain
Neck pain
Desire for a more slender figure

Weight of Breast Tissue Removed With Breast Reduction:
620 grams from the right breast
605 grams from the left breast

Breast Reduction Technique:
Wise pattern reduction
Note: Dr. Sterry does not remove the nipple for this operation.

She felt much better in 5 days but didn't go back to her workout routines for almost a month.

Dr. Sterry tries to give every breast reduction patient a nice result that they will be proud of. If you're interested in finding out what results are possible for you, request an appointment by filling out the form on this page or call the New York office at (212) 249-4020.
