Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
This 40-year-old woman was 5 feet 5 inches tall and 184 pounds after losing 143 pounds with gastric bypass surgery. She was requesting body contouring surgery to give her a more "normal" shape.
In this instance I suggested a lower body lift at my Manhattan practice, combining a fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty as a first step in her reconstruction. Several months later we went back to the operating room and she had an inner thigh lift operation to remove the loose skin between her legs that had prevented her from wearing pants that would otherwise fit her well.
Motivation for lower body lift:
Excess skin laxity after excessive weight loss
Body Contouring Technique:
Lower Body Lift including:
Fleur-de-Lis Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck with an additional vertical incision)
Outer thigh lift
Second Operation (6 months later)
Inner Thigh Lift
Two nights for the lower body lift
Ambulatory for the thigh lift
Dr. Sterry has a great deal of experience working with bariatric patients who have lost a lot of weight. He understands that you don't just want extra skin removed with your lower body lift, you also want to have a nice shape when it's done...and he doesn't mind spending the extra time in the operating room to do that.
