I came across an article claiming that tattoo removal is getting better with the use of various lasers. While this may be true, I’m concerned because many patients don’t understand how difficult it is to completely remove a tattoo. Even in what doctors call “good” outcomes, there is many times a “ghost” of the tattoo left behind when treatment is complete. The fact is that we need to use different lasers for different tattoo colors, which can prolong andcomplicate the process. Furthermore, treatments can be quite uncomfortable. For all of these reasons, I caution my friends to avoid getting inked unless they are absolutely certain they want to have that mark on their skin for life…
