Tummy Tuck Case #3770

This is a 59 year old patient who wanted to improve the abdominal scar she had from previous surgery.  Among her options was to have a tummy tuck to remove it altogether.  The operation took about 3 hours and we were able to create a much flatter abdomen with a smoother contour without having the stigma of her previous surgery so obvious right in front of her tummy every time she went to the beach.

This is obviously a patient who keeps herself in good shape and deserves to wear any kind of clothing she wants, but the scar on the left side of her abdomen and to a certain extent the texture of her skin was holding her back.  The "after" photographs are shown about 8 months after surgery.  She is now quite comfortable showing her tummy in public when it is socially appropriate.

Among the things that I am happy about on this case is the relatively natural appearance of her umbilicus.  I often refer to the belly button as the "Crown Jewel" of the Tummy Tuck operation and I spend a lot of time trying to get them right.  I'd like to think it separates me from at least some of the other surgeons in New York City.
