This 41-year-old man was escorted to my office by his girlfriend for neck liposuction. She is also a patient of mine and had seen some examples of Smartlipo™ on the neck. The patient told me that he had fullness behind his chin during his entire adult life and couldn't really remember a time when he had a "clean neckline."

We chose to use Smartlipo during his surgery in New York because the laser energy helps to melt fat as well as to tighten the skin at the same time. Once the melted fat is suctioned away, the skin redrapes, and the neck typically appears very well contoured and yet has a natural look. In male patients, there is a mixed blessing of less dramatic results than we see in women, but then again, friends and family are less likely to notice. They typically think patients are simply losing weight. Best of all, the entire procedure is done under local anesthesia and takes about 35 minutes to perform.
