This is a 76-year-old woman who told me that her lips seemed to just disappear over the years. While she wanted her lips to be fuller again, she was afraid of looking like she had "two sausages across my face." Apparently, some famous celebrities have managed to ruin lip augmentation for the rest of us.
Lip augmentation is supposed to look good, not artificial. Injections should try to mimic what we see naturally in people with nice mouths. That means that the product should not be injected uniformly across the lip, but that some areas should be made more prominent than others — and it should never be overdone. I use dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® for lip augmentation at my New York City practice.
