This patient complained about having a "gummy smile." I knew her casually when she asked me for help with it, and she seemed quite embarrassed to bring the issue up, but her wedding day was coming and she really wanted to look good for her photographs.
A dentist had suggested that an operation can be done to cut and remove the muscles that are elevating her lip a little too aggressively. She didn't like the idea of surgery and wanted to see if I had a simpler answer for her.
I injected BOTOX Cosmetic at my NYC practice in a small and affordable dose of just 4 units, and she got the result you see above in about 2 weeks. It's important to know that BOTOX doesn't work immediately and typically requires a few days to kick in. However, for cases like this one, where we can avoid incisions of any kind, it is certainly worth the wait.
