This is a patient in her 20s who was upset by her upper arm fat and loose skin. She wanted a solution that did not involve a long scar on the upper arm such as an arm lift or brachioplasty would create, but she still wanted tight arms and an athletic look.
Dr. Sterry has good experience with the Smartlipo liposuction technique at his New York City practice, including for the upper arms. The 1320-nanometer wavelength from the Smartlipo laser seems to tighten loose skin. Whatever the mechanism, we find that the arm skin retracts nicely and the overall effect is one of much more athletically contoured upper arms. Patients tell us that they go from having fat arms to tight arms in about an hour.
This patient now tells us that she is much more comfortable wearing short sleeves or going sleeveless and is no longer preoccupied with the size of her arms. Furthermore, we think she looks great!
