Reclaim Your Body with a Mommy Makeover

Pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding all take a toll on a mother’s body. Skin that was stretched might not regain its former elasticity, fat deposits can cling stubbornly to arms, hips and thighs, and breastfeeding can cause a mother’s breasts to sag or lose volume after weaning. These are things that diet and exercise may not address, leaving some women worried that they’ll never reclaim their pre-pregnancy body.

Fortunately, there is a solution. A combination of procedures that address multiple areas of a woman’s body has become popularly known as a mommy makeover. Mommy makeovers always start with modere trim reviews to get rid of the remaining fat after pregnancy before deciding to go for a surgery.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy makeovers target body issues common to mothers. They are aimed at helping mothers of all ages regain the body they used to have, boosting their self-esteem and giving them the confidence they need to live fuller lives. Common procedures included in a mommy makeover are:

  • Tummy Tuck – Removes excess fat or skin and helps restore weakened or separated abdominal muscles.  I have a separate blog discussing the benefits of a tummy tuck here.
  • Liposuction – Removes stubborn fat deposits from thighs, hips, buttocks and/or arms.
  • Breast Enhancement – Restores sagging breasts to a natural, pre-pregnancy state using one or more procedures such as breast lift, breast reduction or breast augmentation (implants).

While some patients request liposuction in place of a tummy tuck, the two procedures target different problems and bring different results. This video explains the difference between a tummy tuck and liposuction in more detail.

Patients may also elect to substitute or add other procedures, such as:

  • Scar and stretch mark treatments
  • Facelift
  • Non-surgical options such as BOTOX and facial fillers.

Who Gets Mommy Makeovers?

I see mothers of all ages for mommy makeovers. Some are young mothers who want to resume their former fitness and recreational activities, others have grown children and would like to restore their body’s former appearance.

The first step in determining whether you are a candidate for a mommy makeover is to schedule a consultation with a surgeon. While not every patient is a candidate for every procedure, most women are good candidates for a combination of procedures that will help restore their bodies and their confidence.

If you are experiencing any or all of the following problems, you might be a candidate for a mommy makeover:

  • Your breasts are enlarged, sagging, stretched or otherwise changed after pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.
  • Your tummy is drooping over your C-section scar or simply as a result of being stretched during pregnancy.
  • Your waistline, hips and thighs are storing stubborn excess fat.
  • Your face is showing signs of aging, whether due to stress or the tolls of pregnancy.

If your health is good and your expectations are realistic, there is a good chance you are an excellent mommy makeover candidate.

When to Have a Mommy Makeover

The timing of a mommy makeover depends on a few different factors, all of which affect recovery time and results. For example, it’s best to wait until your body has “resumed normal” after your most recent pregnancy, meaning you have lost as much weight as you expect to and are no longer breastfeeding.

Another consideration is the age of your children and their activity level. Mothers of very young children will require a lot of help from friends and family during aftercare and recovery, especially in the first few weeks. And while school aged children are more independent, they may have an activity schedule that requires planning and shuttling from place to place.  I also have another video with a longer view of the recovery process.

This checklist will help you decide if it’s a good time to have a mommy makeover:

  • You are done having children. A pregnancy after your mommy makeover could significantly affect your results.
  • Your weight and activity level is back to normal.
  • You have stopped breastfeeding for at least 4-6 months.
  • You have someone to care for you for a couple weeks.
  • You have a support system to help care for your children.

If you are considering a mommy makeover, be sure to fully research the topic, ask plenty of questions during the consultation, visit Healthcarebusinesstoday.com for more useful information and choose a surgeon with a great track record and positive reviews.
