I have been asked many times if a tummy tuck scar would be made above or below a C-section scar. Patients seem to think that they will end up with two separate scars from the procedures. That’s not how it works.
The truth is that I routinely make my tummy tuck incisions below the C-section scars and remove any evidence of the C-section all together. That is to say, the C-section scar is completely removed, and the patient is left with only the tummy tuck scar. This may be longer than the original C-section scar, but it is closed by a plastic surgeon using buried sutures (never staples), and tends to heal nicely.
I hope this helps clear the issue for anyone thinking about getting a flatter tummy.
